ArtsFest 2011

Yesterday we went to ArtsFest 2011 to help out at The HodgePodgery's booth. The HodgePodgery is a local indie artisan shop in the "ART" of Midtown, Harrisburg. They sell all sorts of handmade wares made from local artisans that live within a 100 mile radius of the shop.

We signed up for the evening shift. We had a good time but all that walking really did us in. Especially since my business partner/mother's broken toe is still healing. There is a lot of pottery, jewelry, art work and other nice wares to choose from. We really liked the different garden fountains especially the ones made out of old silver.

I took some pictures of The HoPo's stand to show you some of the many great wares. You can find their stand located in the free section, next to the Walnut St. bridge. Don't forget to check out the stand if you are attending ArtsFest. You can visit today from 10 am to 7pm and tomorrow from 10 am to 5 pm.

The HodgePodgery

One of my birthday gifts was a gift certificate to The HodgePodgery in Harrisburg, PA. My mom and I consign things here as well as sell things on Etsy. They sell all kinds of Recycled, Re purposed & Handmade Whatnots made by local artisans. This shop has a huge variety of wonderful things for sale. I highly recommend checking out this fantastic shop if your in the area. Since there are so many things to choose from and I am also so indecisive it took me a while to decide what to spend my gift certificate on. And I ended up spending money from our account too. Next time I will be sure to bring my cash. :) Here is the HodgePodgery's website for more info:

Sweet Remembrances Tea Room

Yesterday we went to Sweet Remembrances Tea Room in Mechanicsburg, PA to celebrate my birthday. We went to their SereniTEA which is on Wednesdays and the first Saturday of every month. More info can be found on their website: http://www.sweetremembrancestearoom.com/serenitea.htm

First we had to choose our individual pots of tea from the menu. They are 2 cup pots and are bottomless. You can even choose to try more than one kind of tea. I chose Party of The Jungle. I cant recall what other teas we chose for our first pots. They were all really good teas though. Mom even made it threw most of her 2nd pot of tea. She chose The Prince of Wales tea for her 2nd pot. It is a blend of black and green teas with black currants in it.

Our tea started off with a butternut squash and apple soup with a little bit of nutmeg sprinkled on top. The soup was very good and nice on such a cold winter day. Then came the rest of our tea food on an adorable 3 tiered tray. A tier of tea sandwiches and other savories, one of scones and fresh fruit, and the last contained assorted desserts.

1st tier:
broccoli quiche
spinach and parmesan spirals
curried chicken salad in cream puffs
cream cheese and pineapple sandwiches

2nd tier:
plain scones
lemon poppy seed scones
strawberries and orange slices

3rd tier:
strawberry jelly roll
white chocolate cookies
lemon cakes with lemon curd and sprigs of lemon on top

We also had clotted cream and strawberry jam for our scones. Everything tasted wonderful. My favorite thing was the spinach and parmesan spirals and I was plesantly suprise that I liked the curried chicken salad in the cream puffs. The decor was very lovely and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a great time. :)
