Birthday Cards!

Yesterday I decided to make some birthday cards since I needed to send one of them. I also wanted to starting using some new embellishments I recently got. Overall I am pleased with how they turned out so I thought I would share them. :)

Happy Birthday Henry and Clementine!

One of the litters of cats that use to be outside recently turned a year old. Some friends took in a couple of the kittens and named them Henry and Clementine. So, I decided to make them a special birthday present. The toy I chose to make is a version of a cat toy(s) on a stick but instead of the regular cotton fabric cat toys I decided to use small fleece fishies. The fishies were a little tricky to sew since they are so small. But since it turned out so cute it was definitely worth it. :) We took them their present last night and they seem to really like it. I hadn't gotten the chance to visit them before and it was really great to see how much bigger they are!

Sweet Remembrances Tea Room

Yesterday we went to Sweet Remembrances Tea Room in Mechanicsburg, PA to celebrate my birthday. We went to their SereniTEA which is on Wednesdays and the first Saturday of every month. More info can be found on their website: http://www.sweetremembrancestearoom.com/serenitea.htm

First we had to choose our individual pots of tea from the menu. They are 2 cup pots and are bottomless. You can even choose to try more than one kind of tea. I chose Party of The Jungle. I cant recall what other teas we chose for our first pots. They were all really good teas though. Mom even made it threw most of her 2nd pot of tea. She chose The Prince of Wales tea for her 2nd pot. It is a blend of black and green teas with black currants in it.

Our tea started off with a butternut squash and apple soup with a little bit of nutmeg sprinkled on top. The soup was very good and nice on such a cold winter day. Then came the rest of our tea food on an adorable 3 tiered tray. A tier of tea sandwiches and other savories, one of scones and fresh fruit, and the last contained assorted desserts.

1st tier:
broccoli quiche
spinach and parmesan spirals
curried chicken salad in cream puffs
cream cheese and pineapple sandwiches

2nd tier:
plain scones
lemon poppy seed scones
strawberries and orange slices

3rd tier:
strawberry jelly roll
white chocolate cookies
lemon cakes with lemon curd and sprigs of lemon on top

We also had clotted cream and strawberry jam for our scones. Everything tasted wonderful. My favorite thing was the spinach and parmesan spirals and I was plesantly suprise that I liked the curried chicken salad in the cream puffs. The decor was very lovely and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a great time. :)

Card Making!

I decided to make some cards yesterday since I haven't made any in a while. I enjoy making them and using them. :) I made some birthday cards and thank you cards. I am not sure that I like how the thank you ones came out. It is the thought that counts though right?

On another note my birthday is tomorrow so I will probably be blogging about it soon. We are going to a tea place so I will probably write about that, etc.
