Felt Ornaments!!

Time sure flies! I can't believe Christmas is only a few days away. And as usual I have procrastinated and have several things to do before the 25th. I need to make and send my cards, finish making a present, finish my shopping, and probably a couple other things I can't recall right now. lol! As part of my gift giving I decided to make some felt ornaments and must admit I got a bit carried away.

I made owls, gingerbread people, vintage ornaments, trees, pieces of bacon, and one bacon reindeer. :) Here's a list of resources I used. Please note that some of the patterns were shrunk to a smaller size.

Etsy Ornament Finds

Happy December! I can't believe Christmas is just over 3 weeks away. It will be here before we know it. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season no matter what you celebrate. :) Lately I have been looking at a lot of handmade ornaments on etsy and tutorials to make my own. You might say I am getting a little bit obsessed. I found some really great ones on etsy recently that would make great additions to anyone's ornament collection.

Magazine Bows

Since I have a bunch of magazines that I don't want sitting around I decided that maybe I could re-purpose them. Off to Google I went and did a search for craft projects using magazine pages. Settling on making some bows out of them for starters I went to work on some. As you can see I got a little carried away. Oh well, these will look great on top of presents. :) Here's a link to the tutorial so you can give it a try too-gift bows tutorial.

Cork Board Redo

I found a cork board around the house and my lovely mom redecorated it to fit my bedroom's style. I think it fits nicely with my moroccan theme.

Birthday Cards!

Yesterday I decided to make some birthday cards since I needed to send one of them. I also wanted to starting using some new embellishments I recently got. Overall I am pleased with how they turned out so I thought I would share them. :)

Ornaments!!

Any craft that re-purposes items rather than throwing them away is a great one in my book. So, when I found this tutorial on ScoutieGirl a while ago I had to give it a try. I first tried this tutorial out in December of last year but only had the opportunity and the supplies to make the one featured in a previous blog post. So, I began saving some of the belated holiday cards. I also thought that making an ornament or two out of solid cardstock in a variety of colors would look nice. And then an ad for a magazine with lots of pictures and colors to it came in the mail and I thought I would see how it would look as an ornament. So, I got to work making these ornaments and finally got around to the assembly the other night. I think they turned out pretty nice and I like that they don't all look the same. Etsy Pumpkin Finds

Happy Fall! I hope everyone is enjoying their autumn so far. I know I haven't been blogging as much as I use to but I hope to change that soon. I have been working on some ornaments out of old cards and things that I will be posting about either later this month or early next month. And I am sure with the holiday season and most especially Christmas I will have plenty of crafts and things to share. In the mean time check out these great pumpkin themed I found while searching Etsy today. :D

Yo-Yo Brooches and Headbands

I decided to take a short break from working on cat toys and choose to make some more yo-yo brooches. I am very pleased with how these turned out. Since I wanted to try and add some more variety to the selection of yo-yo pins I used some different cotton fabric and scraps.

Recently we(my fabulous business partner/mother and I) have been toying with the idea of making me some fun headbands out of yo-yos, beads, ect. We have come up with several ideas-They just need to be attempt to see what works. And seeing as a certain blogger loves to make yo-yos it was only natural that my first attempt at making adornments for headbands came in the form of sewing some. I have sewn three of these so far but I will probably sew a couple more at least. Plus we are going to try out some of our other ideas. I will keep you posted. : )

More new fishies!

I got some great bright colored fleece when it was on sale. I love how these two new patterns look on my dead fishies! And it was nice to buy off the rolls rather than just out of the remnant bin. :)

Homemade Marshmallows

Yesterday evening we finally got around to making some homemade marshmallows. We decided to make mexican vanilla marshmallows for out first attempt at them. They were fairly easy to make and I think they turned out well. They are definitely tasty! We used the recipe from smitten kitchen's blog that was adapted from Gourmet magazine. Which can be found here-Marshmallows Recipe. What flavor do you think we should try next? I was thinking perhaps a raspberry or a strawberry.
