One of my birthday gifts was a gift certificate to The HodgePodgery in Harrisburg, PA. My mom and I consign things here as well as sell things on Etsy. They sell all kinds of Recycled, Re purposed & Handmade Whatnots made by local artisans. This shop has a huge variety of wonderful things for sale. I highly recommend checking out this fantastic shop if your in the area. Since there are so many things to choose from and I am also so indecisive it took me a while to decide what to spend my gift certificate on. And I ended up spending money from our account too. Next time I will be sure to bring my cash. :) Here is the HodgePodgery's website for more info:
Yesterday we went to Sweet Remembrances Tea Room in Mechanicsburg, PA to celebrate my birthday. We went to their SereniTEA which is on Wednesdays and the first Saturday of every month. More info can be found on their website: http://www.sweetremembrancestearoom.com/serenitea.htm
First we had to choose our individual pots of tea from the menu. They are 2 cup pots and are bottomless. You can even choose to try more than one kind of tea. I chose Party of The Jungle. I cant recall what other teas we chose for our first pots. They were all really good teas though. Mom even made it threw most of her 2nd pot of tea. She chose The Prince of Wales tea for her 2nd pot. It is a blend of black and green teas with black currants in it.
Our tea started off with a butternut squash and apple soup with a little bit of nutmeg sprinkled on top. The soup was very good and nice on such a cold winter day. Then came the rest of our tea food on an adorable 3 tiered tray. A tier of tea sandwiches and other savories, one of scones and fresh fruit, and the last contained assorted desserts.
1st tier: broccoli quiche spinach and parmesan spirals curried chicken salad in cream puffs cream cheese and pineapple sandwiches
3rd tier: strawberry jelly roll white chocolate cookies lemon cakes with lemon curd and sprigs of lemon on top
We also had clotted cream and strawberry jam for our scones. Everything tasted wonderful. My favorite thing was the spinach and parmesan spirals and I was plesantly suprise that I liked the curried chicken salad in the cream puffs. The decor was very lovely and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a great time. :)
I decided to make some cards yesterday since I haven't made any in a while. I enjoy making them and using them. :) I made some birthday cards and thank you cards. I am not sure that I like how the thank you ones came out. It is the thought that counts though right?
On another note my birthday is tomorrow so I will probably be blogging about it soon. We are going to a tea place so I will probably write about that, etc.
So I received the latest issue of Taste of Home's Simple and Delicious in the mail the other day. I decided to bake the carrot and raisin muffins from the section on muffins last night. I enjoy trying out different muffins recipes and this one sounded good. They are pretty good but they didn't rise as much as I thought they would. I think I might try the banana muffin recipe next.
My mom also seems to have been bitten by the baking bug, this morning she decided to make a sweet potato pound cake. She has been meaning to try this recipe for a while. I believe she found it on a blog but she cant recall exactly where.
I am not quite sure why I created this blog but here we go. Lets see if anyone actually cares to read it. Happy Valentines Day! It is a typical day here aside from the candy from my parents and the vday card and money from grandma and grandpa. :) This blog will probably just be a blog of random crafting and ramblings. And of course lots of fabric yo yos as I cant stop using them on different crafts. I guess I will add a few pics to this post. Thanks for reading and enjoy your vday however you spend it! ~Chelsea :D
