Yo-Yo Brooches and Headbands

I decided to take a short break from working on cat toys and choose to make some more yo-yo brooches. I am very pleased with how these turned out. Since I wanted to try and add some more variety to the selection of yo-yo pins I used some different cotton fabric and scraps.

Recently we(my fabulous business partner/mother and I) have been toying with the idea of making me some fun headbands out of yo-yos, beads, ect. We have come up with several ideas-They just need to be attempt to see what works. And seeing as a certain blogger loves to make yo-yos it was only natural that my first attempt at making adornments for headbands came in the form of sewing some. I have sewn three of these so far but I will probably sew a couple more at least. Plus we are going to try out some of our other ideas. I will keep you posted. : )

Fabric Coiled Bowl

Christmas will be here before we know it so I decided that it was time to start working on some fun gifts. I have been meaning to try to make fabric coiled bowls for a while now. I finally roped my mom into attempting them with me-I don't know how to use a sewing machine yet. I will have to get my mom to teach me how some time. :) Until then we can just do collaborations. I really like how the first one turned out and can't wait to try some more of these out. Here's the tutorial on CraftStylish-Fabric Coiled Bowls.

Oodles Of Yo-Yos

I can't help myself I keep making them. I may need a 12 step program soon. I make them even when I have no project in mind to use them in. Here are some of my latest yo-yos. If I ever decide what to use these particular ones for I will be sure to post.

Long time no blog...

Hello Readers! :) It sure has been a while since my last blog post. I have been busy enjoying my summer. I hope all of you are enjoying your summer as well. I am hoping to get more blogging done this month. I wanted to show you a picture of some of the yo yo brooches I am working on. I will probably write a blog post with all of the new brooches in it when they are done. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Cat Toys!

I recently decided to take a hiatus from working with fabric yo yos. Since the weather has been great for the most part I headed outside to work on carving some sticks. I carve them and then use them to make cat toys with. Several sticks are now carved and just need to be cut to size and have a small hole drilled in the top. Then I will put a piece of elastic through them and tie a knot at the top to keep it attached. And finally I will sew three cat toys to each piece of elastic. And voila!

I have also been sewing up some catnip fortune cookies with some cat themed fabric I got at JoAnnes. I am not sure what I am doing with these yet. I enjoy sewing these while I sit and watch TV.

And finally I have been working on a new line of cat toys. These are similar to the cat toys on sticks except they are on rings. I am thinking of trying to sell these in our artfire store. I don't know if they would sell or not but I guess it is worth a try. I would appreciate any thoughts or opinions on them. :)

Works in Progress

I always seem to have a bunch of works in progress going on at once. Since I like looking at other people's works on blogs I thought someone else might too. Here are just a few of my many projects.

Here are some fabric yo yos I made with the largest of my clover yo yo makers. These are going to be made into keychains. I love these yo yo makers and cant stop making fabric yo yos. These here are made from a book of fabric samples. I am always looking for new uses for these.

This box is the latest in a series of boxes using modgepodge and fabric scraps to create decorative boxes. The idea came about when I was trying to figure out what to do with the fabric scraps I was collecting. I really didn't want to throw any of them out because I felt it would be wasteful. Most of the bigger scraps I have already made into a whole bunch of cat toys. And best of all the box I am using now came from a Trader Joes box of caramels we got for Christmas. The label actually peeled off nicely.

The power company came and cut part of the tree out back so it wasnt in the way of the power lines. They left us with a log that I decided to make some wooden coasters from. So I got my grandpa to cut the log down into coasters for me. I have about half of them sanded already. Since the weather is warming up I should be able to finish sanding them before too long. Then all I need to do is put a clear coat of sealant on them. Then sand them and put a final coat of sealant on them. And voila!

Valentines Day

I am not quite sure why I created this blog but here we go. Lets see if anyone actually cares to read it. Happy Valentines Day! It is a typical day here aside from the candy from my parents and the vday card and money from grandma and grandpa. :) This blog will probably just be a blog of random crafting and ramblings. And of course lots of fabric yo yos as I cant stop using them on different crafts. I guess I will add a few pics to this post. Thanks for reading and enjoy your vday however you spend it!
