Fabric Yo-Yo Headbands Part 1

As you may have figured out from reading this blog, I love adding fabric yo yos to things. A while ago I decided to make some headbands with them. So, I made some fabric yo yos and then we tracked down some headbands with teeth in them. We found a bunch of satin, tulle, netting, ect. on sale after Halloween. So, we were able to get a bunch of small pieces of materials reasonable priced. :D Here's how the first three turned out. I love my new Christmas headband. It is so festive! I think all 3 turned out nice-The one with the purple and green tulle was a Christmas present for one of my cousins. :)

Etsy Ornament Finds

Happy December! I can't believe Christmas is just over 3 weeks away. It will be here before we know it. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season no matter what you celebrate. :) Lately I have been looking at a lot of handmade ornaments on etsy and tutorials to make my own. You might say I am getting a little bit obsessed. I found some really great ones on etsy recently that would make great additions to anyone's ornament collection.

Ornaments!!

Any craft that re-purposes items rather than throwing them away is a great one in my book. So, when I found this tutorial on ScoutieGirl a while ago I had to give it a try. I first tried this tutorial out in December of last year but only had the opportunity and the supplies to make the one featured in a previous blog post. So, I began saving some of the belated holiday cards. I also thought that making an ornament or two out of solid cardstock in a variety of colors would look nice. And then an ad for a magazine with lots of pictures and colors to it came in the mail and I thought I would see how it would look as an ornament. So, I got to work making these ornaments and finally got around to the assembly the other night. I think they turned out pretty nice and I like that they don't all look the same. Christmas Cards Ornament

I found a wonderful tutorial on making an ornament out of Christmas cards on the scoutiegirl blog. You can find it here: Holiday Keepsake Ornament Tutorial , It is a great craft to make with any cards you get. I love the idea of repurposing cards instead of having to throw the whole thing away after the holidays are over. So, after I found this tutorial a few weeks before Christmas I eagerly awaited the arrival of our holiday cards so I could make one. The only thing I need to buy was the punch for this project-so I took a 50% off coupon to the craft store and picked up a 1 1/2 inch circle punch. Since it is a basic circle punch I was suprised I didn't already have one in my ever growing scrap book/ card making supplies. If you decide to try this project too or have already please be sure to leave a link so I can see how yours turned out. :)

Happy Holidays!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas. :) I had a pretty good holiday myself. I am excited to see consistent blog views despite the lack of a recent post. Hopefully my blog posting will pick up in the new year. Thank you for stopping by and reading. Here's to another year of reading blogs and posting on mine. And who knows I might even sneak in another post before 2010 is over. Before I send this blog through I was wondering-What was your favorite part of this Christmas?

Christmas Cards

So yesterday I decided that it was time to start making Christmas cards-Sometimes I don't make them all at once. Mainly because I tend to get carried away and make a bunch. I think they came out pretty good for my limited card making skills. And I managed to finish 6 of them. I think I will get more supplies before I make the rest of the cards. Here are the two cards that I think turned out the best.
